Aptiv announced the opening of its Las Vegas Technical Center, in a news release from the autonomous vehicle company this Monday.

Aptiv, which is headquartered in Dublin, Ireland, currently has major facilities in Pittsburgh, Boston and Singapore.

The 130,000-square-foot Las Vegas center is described as a “state-of-the-art, all-inclusive facility” for AV operations, research, development, data management and technology demonstrations, in the release.

“With more than one million autonomous miles logged globally, Aptiv’s commercial AV pilots have proven our ability to launch, build and scale a successful, end-to-end autonomous mobility solution,” said Karl Lagnemma, president of autonomous mobility at Aptiv, in a prepared statement. “The investment in our Las Vegas Technical Center gives us the ability to further advance the efficiency of our operations, gather key commercial AV learnings, and enhance safety operator training.”

Las Vegas hosts Aptiv’s largest self-driving fleet, some of which are available to the public through a partnership with Lyft. The vehicles can be accessed at more than 1,600 destinations across Clark County and Las Vegas.

Aptiv, which has completed over 25,000 paid autonomous rides through the Las Vegas program, also has plans in place to open a new 70,000 square foot facility at Hazelwood Green in Pittsburgh, according to sources familiar with the real estate development in the area. However, Aptiv did not confirm the move.
